Anomalies occurred all over the world, but they stayed hidden from public view.
That was because the changes affecting humanity took place in dreams. Some people could experience entire lives in their dreams.
Lin Shijiu was one of them. A sleep-game system informed him that he had become a Dreamer.
He was a rather unlucky person. No, maybe not particularly unlucky after all.
When he entered the dream world, he immediately obtained the authority fragment everyone dreamed of getting. Sure, it got him placed on a bounty list and hunted down, but it also came with some major perks!
For instance, he could now travel freely between different dreamscapes. That was one of the fragment's abilities.
And he could finally move about freely, with the world before his eyes at last coming into focus.
To be honest, Lin Shijiu was a pretty cheerful person. After going through a whole series of hardships, he still held fast to the ideals of the Justice League.
But that didn't stop him from finding dark, villainous characters charismatic. He felt that their stylish entrances were what drew him in.
So Lin Shijiu donned a cloak to hide his face and played a mysterious character, constantly hopping back and forth along the line between heroes and villains. He wanted to swoop in and save the day with the coolest possible entrance.
But he hadn't prepared well enough for that. Whenever he decided to reveal his identity, those people would clap and cheer in such a fake way. They had already recognized him.
Lin Shijiu thought of himself as a character who was neither wholly good nor wholly evil, but in other people's eyes, he was a bright, sunny presence.
