When Weng Lingsu first transmigrated, someone was pushing her toward a tiger-skin chair.

She took the bowl and looked inside. What was in it wasn’t wine at all, but a bowl of thick, bright-red blood soup...

With the atmosphere built up this much, it seemed a little wrong not to sacrifice a finger or two...

Weng Lingsu swallowed, abruptly drew a short knife, and made a couple of feints at her finger. After hesitating for a long time, she still couldn’t bring herself to do it.

A rusty knife could give you tetanus!

These bandits seriously lacked basic medical knowledge!

Sigh...

There was no helping it. She was here now, and it was a festival. Everyone had it hard.

Weng Lingsu rolled up her sleeves and began leading the whole village, young and old, men and women, to clear land, farm, raise chickens and ducks, cook, and build infrastructure, striving toward a comfortable life where the elderly had silver hair and children had black hair, and everyone lived happily...

As Yunmeng County’s newly appointed magistrate, Dongmen Bai made a point of learning about the place before taking up his post.

They said it was surrounded by mountains on three sides and water on the fourth, extremely remote, and often plagued by bandits who robbed homes and looted villages. The local people were so destitute they had no decent clothes or enough to eat, and never knew if they’d have food for the next meal.

As he rode along on his little horse, shaking his head and sighing, he pondered how he could help the villagers escape poverty and build a better life.

But when he arrived, what he saw was...

The land was broad and flat, the houses neat and orderly, and every kind of fruit and vegetable was available. Ten miles of peach groves shut out the mundane world. The people were well fed and warmly clothed, living prosperous lives. Why would they need to escape poverty?

Completely bewildered, he stopped a young woman passing by.

“May I ask if this is Taohuali in Anlu County, Yunmeng Township?”

Weng Lingsu gave him a suspicious once-over. Seeing his plain clothes, she took him for a refugee who had wandered here and clapped him on the shoulder.

“What Taohuali? This is Peach Blossom Spring. If you want to make a living here, just call me Chief!”
