On a rainy night, Qin Zhen follows a rift in time and finds that it leads to Lin Yu's dream clinic. Inside, a patient is letting a nightmare "seep" into reality, and eyes that don't belong in this world are growing out of the walls. When the two meet for the first time, Qin Zhen tries to freeze time, while Lin Yu weaves a dream over reality. Their abilities collide, creating a strange "time-dream rift," from which a girl falls. Bai Lu opens her eyes and says, "Time is wrong, the dream is real, and you're all in your seats, except for the one that's empty."
The eyes on the walls all turn to look at them.
In a distant bell tower, Shen Qingya stands in the rain, his translucent body almost blending into the night. He softly hums an ancient song of the ruins: "Seven seats, seven dreams, seven times, seven endings... The eighth is empty, waiting for the one who was forgotten to return to their place."
This setting transforms the instance challenges of an infinite-flow story into a deeper exploration of selfhood, memory, and time. Every character struggles against the cost of their own abilities, searching for a balance between saving others and destroying themselves. There is no absolute good or evil, only souls choosing how to exist amid varying degrees of despair.
The story's deepest heartbreak does not come from the strength of its external enemies, but from the fundamental conflict that "using your abilities means consuming your own existence." Perhaps the most tragic moment comes when a character, in order to save someone they love, willingly accelerates their own corruption, smiling as they slowly vanish from other people's memories.
Theme:
- Every ability comes at a heavy cost. There are no invincible characters.
- The romance is restrained. The protagonists save each other rather than being consumed by love.
- The female characters are independent and do not rely on male characters.
- Victory often comes with sacrifice. There are no perfect endings.
