Qinglan as the Guide

The Three Realms are divided, and the path to immortality stretches endlessly, yet neither can confine a doomed love.

Lin Beichen was a gifted disciple of the Qinglan Sect, blessed with a Pure Mystic Spirit Root. Devoted to the Dao, all he wanted was to keep his sect at peace and attain eternal life. Then he met Lu Xinghe. She seemed to have fallen from the starry river into the mortal world, moonlight in her eyes and a secret demonic power within her, while carrying a blood feud.

Immortals and demons follow different paths. The Heavenly Dao will not allow them to be together.

To protect her, he defied his sect, destroyed his own spirit root, and endured the punishment of execution by the Immortal-Slaying Platform. To save him, she burned away her demonic essence, defied fate, and willingly entered the endless inferno. Once, they stood shoulder to shoulder on Mount Qinglan, watching the starry river. Later, beneath the Immortal-Slaying Platform, they raised their swords and severed the ties of love.

After parting, they met again as enemies.

He was a cool and aloof immortal who wielded the Qinglan Sword Art and commanded the respect of the Three Realms. She was a demonic goddess who stirred up storms and bore a curse. Suspicion from their fellow disciples, the Heavenly Dao’s punishments, and plots by their enemies pushed them again and again to the brink of life and death.

A sword can slay every demon, but it cannot sever a longing etched into the bones;

The Dao can reveal the secrets of immortality, but not the tangled bonds of love and hate.

Qinglan is their guiding light, the starry river their pact.

This song of Qinglan sings of the sorrow of immortals and demons following different paths, and the grief of a fate that cannot be escaped.

Even if the Heavenly Dao forbids them and all beings condemn them,

they will make themselves the pieces on the board and use their blood as ink,

defy fate, and face together a love that will bring them ruin.
