Master, Hear Me Out

Max-Level Big Shot, Free of Worldly Desires, But His Old Flame Rekindles: Master [Top]

Cultivation Weakling, Master’s Biggest Fan, But a Designer Who Starts Things and Walks Away [Bottom] (He does not actually start things and walk away)

Song Fuxue’s favorite cultivation novel, One Step to Heaven, was about to be adapted into a mobile game, tentatively titled Project Immortal. His favorite character was not the protagonist, Long Aotian, but Long Aotian’s master, Li Hanzhi, a natural-born immortal.

Li Hanzhi was only one step away from ascending to heaven. Unfortunately, he was merely a stepping stone for the protagonist, and in the end, he even died for the sake of this world. This once made Song Fuxue so furious he could have exploded!

When he heard Project Immortal was hiring character illustrators, he fought his way through countless challenges and finally became Li Hanzhi’s dedicated designer. Every day, whether his eyes were open or shut, all he saw was Li Hanzhi’s breathtaking face.

At long last, heaven rewards the persevering: he died of overwork.

Just like that, he was dead, and he could not rest in peace.

When he opened his eyes, he had arrived in the world of Project Immortal. The System said his obsession ran too deep and it feared his resentment might invade the game, so it was giving him one chance to change Li Hanzhi’s destined death.

Song Fuxue: There’s a deal like this?!

Li Hanzhi had always firmly believed his Daoist heart was unshakable, but his newly accepted junior disciple was a little too “concerned”: afraid he would be cold, afraid he would be hungry, afraid he would get hurt.

At Li Hanzhi’s level of cultivation, he could no longer feel heat, cold, or hunger, and unless an injury was fatal, he would not even notice it. None of it was worth worrying about.

But when his little disciple died, Li Hanzhi thought for the first time: What does a Daoist heart even matter?

-

After sending Li Hanzhi onto the great path to ascension, Song Fuxue was feeling triumphant and ready to head back to the underworld. Unexpectedly, the System sounded an alarm: Li Hanzhi had already turned dark. Rescue him immediately, or the game world would collapse.

Song Fuxue’s face was full of question marks. “Who turned dark? Who are you saying turned dark?”

The System cried as it bit the hem of Song Fuxue’s pants. “Your master! Please! Save him!”

Returning to the world of Project Immortal, he became a cannon-fodder character about to be sent to Mount Chen to investigate. Li Hanzhi had spent his whole life upright and just. If he found out Song Fuxue had secretly been reborn, he might personally purge his own sect.

Song Fuxue clutched his secret identity tightly. “What am I supposed to use to save him?”

-

The snow atop Mount Chen had not melted for ten thousand years. Song Fuxue could not help shivering. “Master, why haven’t you ascended?”

Li Hanzhi looked over at him, his gaze distant. “Your master was seduced and then abandoned. Until I find that person, I will not give up.”

Those four words carried so much weight that Song Fuxue could not imagine anyone shameless enough to steal someone from his household. “Who would dare abandon you?”

As soon as he spoke, a shadow fell over him. Li Hanzhi gave him a long, deep look.

Later, the System showed Song Fuxue a replay of the “seduce and abandon” incident.

Song Fuxue: Hiss, I did that?

System: This clip is what will get us our year-end performance bonus.

Song Fuxue: ...They can broadcast this???

[Left here on 2026.06.30. I’ll polish it before starting the novel. Thank you so much for your support.]

[Reading Guide ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ]

1. This story is not about leveling up and fighting monsters. It is all about romance. Still, for clarity, here are the cultivation ranks: Qi Refining, Foundation Building, Golden Core, Golden Body, Golden Immortal. That’s it, my own ranking system. Li Hanzhi is a Golden Immortal, and Song Fuxue is a Golden Core, but he has plenty of ways to go toe-to-toe with him... Heh heh heh.

2. Main CP only, both are inexperienced, no switching and no role reversal! Song Fuxue is a fine young man who graduated from university. Li Hanzhi is around eight hundred years old and in the prime of his life. He is the older one, so he can only be the older one.

3. There will be long stretches of flashbacks interwoven with the present-day timeline. I tried writing it in chronological order and failed, so there was no choice but to kill them off.
