Love Reaches Higher Than the Sky

I was an active, energetic child from the time I was little. Where I came from, that counted as a pioneering innovation, and I was famous far and wide. That's because all the grandmas and grandpas there believed, down to their very bones, that girls had to act like girls: they should be quiet, wear floral dresses, and speak softly. It was just like the classic Confucian teachings from ancient times: women should be sheltered young ladies who never leave their homes. Otherwise, they'd be sent to climb a mountain of knives and boil in a cauldron of oil, then take their own lives in front of the old tower in the center of the village, where a chastity archway had once stood. (It has since been demolished as part of the city's redevelopment.)
