Sang Wu’s husband went missing. He went hunting in the mountains and had been gone for over a month, so the neighbors all thought he was probably dead.
After all, he was Sang Wu’s third husband, and her first two had both died young.
As a result, her reputation as a woman who brought death to her husbands had only grown louder around town.
Though she was as beautiful as a peach blossom and graceful as a willow, no one dared ask for her hand anymore.
Her first husband was a hunter, tall and handsome, with formidable martial skills. He cherished her dearly, and aside from being a little too insatiable in bed, he never let her suffer in the slightest.
Unfortunately, they lived in turbulent times. He was conscripted and sent to the battlefield, and never made it home alive.
Her second husband was a scholar, handsome as an orchid tree and exceptionally good-looking. He was even more gentle and considerate toward her, personally doing her makeup every morning. The only drawback was that he had too many tricks up his sleeve at night, often coaxing her tenderly while refusing to stop.
He died of an illness, taken by a bout of chills.
Her third husband… was actually an accident.
Sang Wu had rescued him and let him stay while he recovered. But on the anniversary of her late husband’s death, she drank too much and mistook him for her deceased spouse, then did all sorts of outrageous things with him.
When she woke the next morning and saw scratch marks all over his lean back, she met his accusing gaze and had no choice but to take responsibility.
This husband was neither gentle nor considerate, and his cooking was awful. He was cold as ice, said little in bed, was rough without offering any comfort, and often complained that she was too delicate.
But Sang Wu knew she was in the wrong. She had been the one to ruin his virtue, so she could only put up with it in silence. Even when he bullied her mercilessly, all she dared do was secretly hug her late husband’s memorial tablet and cry.
Still, he was a capable laborer. When it came to plowing the fields, he was every bit as strong as her first husband. After he got into trouble, Sang Wu found it hard to survive alone in this world, so she began thinking about finding another husband.
But just as she was exchanging wedding vows with the new man she had found, the courtyard gate swung open.
Her first husband had come back.
…
Later, Sang Wu discovered that her late husbands had never actually died, and they had all returned to find her.

The Gloomy Villains Have Their Eyes on Me
After Cui Lingyu fell into the water, she had a nightmare.
In it, the Cui estate was confiscated, and the troops who came to seize it were led by her adoptive brother, Cui Yun.
Her father was imprisoned, the women of the household were confined to the estate, and a loyal servant risked his life to help her escape.
The once lofty young lady fell into the mire overnight. Everyone who had once honored and fawned over her was now eager to kick her while she was down.
Some even told her with amused smiles to beg Cui Yun, claiming it was the surest way to stay alive.
But Cui Lingyu was stubborn to the bone and intended to go to the capital alone to plead her case.
The times were chaotic, however, and bandits attacked her on the road. As she hid in panic, the Prince of Dongyang, clad in gleaming silver armor, brought down the bandit chief with a single thrust of his spear.
He turned his horse around, and Cui Lingyu saw his face clearly.
The man was none other than the stable hand she had once humiliated at will!
Ling Qi also saw her.
He slowly curled his lips into a smile and said cruelly, “Kill them all. Leave no one alive.”
Cui Lingyu jolted awake in terror.
When she opened her eyes, she saw a man kneeling on the ground, his body covered in whip marks.
He raised his dark eyes. It was Ling Qi.
The young lady of the Cui family was attacked and rescued by a lowly stable hand, her reputation left in tatters.
Cui Lingyu was spoiled and willful, and had whipped him until his skin was torn and bloody.
Now, seeing his striking, sharp-featured face again, she remembered how viciously he had run a spear through someone’s throat in her dream and shuddered. Her voice trembled as she asked:
“Does it hurt?”
Cui Lingyu had intended to use Ling Qi to change her tragic fate.
Later, when she was dragged back, trembling and staring blankly, she regretted that decision more than anything.
●
Cui Yun had been away from the estate for several days. When he returned, he realized that the sister who had clung to him since childhood had started avoiding him.
Even more outrageously, a lowly stable hand had defiled her.
He had meant to execute the servant, but then he saw that his sister had taken a liking to him, smiling at him coquettishly.
His sister had been led astray, and it was her older brother’s failure to discipline her.
Cui Yun chose a suitable husband for her, hoping to guide her back onto the right path.
But Cui Lingyu was far too willful to control. Before the wedding, she eloped with the stable hand. When Cui Yun caught up with them, he saw the man pinning Cui Lingyu against a wall and kissing her.
His sister’s cheeks were flushed by the uncouth stable hand’s kisses, and she looked more enchanting than he had ever seen her.
Cui Yun rarely lost his temper, but this time he took matters into his own hands and shot an arrow at the stable hand.
Cui Lingyu was taken back and placed under guard.
That night, her bedroom door opened. Cui Yun’s figure stood in the dim light, his expression unreadable.
He slowly removed the Buddhist prayer beads from his wrist, his voice so calm it made her uneasy.
“I gave you a choice: continue being my younger sister, or become my wife.
Since you no longer wish to call me your brother, then you can be my wife.”
●
Ling Qi had once been a lowly stable hand.
His young lady was a spiteful fool, but she was so beautiful, especially when she cried.
When her whip came down, the first thing to reach him was her scent, before the pain.
He watched her from the shadows, hoping Cui Lingyu would be even crueler to him. That way, when he bullied her in return, he wouldn’t soften no matter how beautifully she cried.
As usual, all the male leads are virgins.
Theme: Be yourself.
Came directly to the comfort zone of the second child [dog head]
Arriving at the comfort zone of the black fox under the moon
Hehe, the third child in this life finally got his wish. He is no longer a wife, and instead of being the third child, he has successfully been promoted to the second child [dog head]
I feel that if the third child really hesitates, 55 will be kidnapped by the second child [dog head]
Hehehe, I finally waited for this joke, but I didn't expect that there was actually a treacherous second child.
The poor second brother got mad at the same thing. Maybe he can only avoid making 55 angry if he doesn't lie to 55 when they first met [dog head]
Of the three, Da Fang likes her the most. Her childhood sweetheart has always treated her like a treasure. Even after being away from home for three years, she couldn't help herself. When she came back, her wife had become a third of her size, and she still had to endure it. It was worth giving him a baby and pissing off the other two.
I still like the original partner. The author's writing style is still good, and it feels quite immersive. I still liked the second child at first, but as the plot developed later, the author's writing made me really not fond of him, and it was a bit of a rage...
But everyone has different hobbies and different cuteness. I personally prefer the first wife or the third child, but although the third child is excusable, I feel that it is a bit unkind for him to leave and put the heroine in danger. If the first wife hadn't arrived, the heroine might have committed suicide in shame and anger... So combine it I still prefer the first wife, and I also like this kind of character design. I don't like people who are too frivolous. However, I feel that the author did not provide enough benefits to the first wife in the later period. I feel that people like the second child are so delicious and unenjoyable. There is also the third child, which makes me feel so pitiful for the first wife, because he is obviously the original wife! The first wife should have a greater say! I hope the extras can update more of the original if. Thank you [vomiting blood]
This meme is damn sweet too
It's so sweet, it's still better than the original one.
