Gardenias Bloom in Midsummer

Xia Zhiyi is a soft, little thing, absent-minded and quick to blush. Her grades are average, and she's timid.
The secret she keeps in her heart is the boy who always stands out as the brightest person in the crowd: Sheng Siran.
Sheng Siran is the aloof top student everyone at school recognizes. Cool and taciturn, a favored son of heaven, he keeps everyone at just the right distance.
No one knows that deep inside his desk, he keeps a notebook with nothing but her name written in it.
When her books scatter, he bends down to pick them up for her.
When she zones out in class, he quietly slips her the answers.
One evening, with gardenias in bloom, he corners her beneath a tree and says in a low, earnest voice:
"Xia Zhiyi, I wasn't just passing by. I came here specifically to see you."
Later, everyone discovers that when the icy top student dotes on someone, he's sweet enough to melt the whole summer.
