Xie Yuqing is a classic passerby character in a high school student saves the world story.
The three rules of being a passerby:
1. A clueless passerby assumes the main cast are ordinary high school students.
One dark and stormy night, the main cast came home injured after a battle and ran into Xie Yuqing in the elevator as he returned from karaoke.
The elevator's deathly pale lights clearly illuminated the wounds on the main cast, barely staunched though they were.
Neither side had expected to run into each other in such a cramped space in the middle of the night.
Awkwardness was the theme of the evening.
While the main cast racked their brains for an excuse, Xie Yuqing spoke in a slightly embarrassed voice.
"Haha, what a coincidence... Were you guys doing cosplay? Oh my, this fake blood looks so real, it even smells like rust. Great stuff, five stars!"

2. A respectable passerby takes care of the main cast.
When the main cast return home, dispirited after failing a mission, they find a loving (dark) dinner (poison) left at their door by some unknown passerby, and their tempers instantly melt like butter.
Failing a mission and all that isn't nearly as terrifying (as this person) as this blatant attempt to poison them.
3. Keeping the main cast safe: No.
The main cast have a mysterious person they both love and hate.
The mysterious person calls himself "K" and often sticks his nose into their missions, snatching treasures or spreading false information... Then, when they've been thoroughly led around by the nose, he says "Surprise!" in a cheeky voice.
But when their lives are truly on the line, K is the one who "happens" to haul them out of danger and "happens" to heal their injuries.
For example, right now, the main cast are surrounded by a terrorist organization. They're exhausted and unable to fight back, and are about to be captured. Suddenly, a flash of white light streaks by. That obnoxious voice rings out again, though, unusually, there's a trace of anger in it.
"You're grown adults, and you're still picking on kids? Have you no shame?"
With a single move, everyone surrounding the main cast crashes to the ground.
A full-force blow from the enemy leader knocks off the black-robed hood that has concealed the mysterious person "K" for years. A breeze passes, revealing a face they know all too well.
"Xie Yuqing?!"
Bonus scene:
After being rescued, the main cast stare blankly at the passerby with his impossibly gorgeous character design.
Right... In their confused state, the main cast wonder: someone this handsome can't possibly have no role in the story.
Xie, his secret identity exposed, doesn't care in the slightest. Instead, he excitedly tells the main cast:
"I filmed it all on my action camera. I'll post it to Moments in a second, so don't forget to like it."
The main cast, covered in dust and grime after sneaking out against their family's wishes: ???

The love interest isn't part of the main cast. He doesn't appear in the blurb, but shows up plenty in the story. He's also a big shot, the sort with a secure government job.

A funny, ridiculous, feel-good story about a couple who love and torment each other, and dote on one another.
The shou has more than one secret identity. At heart, he's just here for a laugh (hee hee).
Both are strong. Both are virgins.
