Jiang Shuci took in a frail, lonely junior fellow disciple. She cared for him and doted on him, and without realizing it, gradually fell for him.
That was until the Demon-Slaying Ceremony, when the junior disciple's demonic aura surged sky-high and the wings unique to the demon race unfurled. He was actually the Lord of the Demon Realm, a bloodthirsty figure hated by the whole world.
The righteous sects surrounded him, Heaven itself would not tolerate him, and everyone wanted him dead. Jiang Shuci held her sword before him, defying the world and betraying her sect with the foundation of her righteous cultivation: "He is my junior brother and my Dao companion. If you want to kill him, you'll have to get past me first."
Ye Wushang hid his sharp edges, pretending to be a gloomy, broken little white lotus, and infiltrated the foremost sect of the righteous path.
He had intended to use the gentle senior brother to ease his pain and wait for a chance to steal a treasure. He never expected that, day after day, over warm porridge and a cozy bed, that man would cradle him in his hands and shield him from harm.
