1. Written to suit my personal tastes. The two leads are each other’s only partners and first loves. Neither is wholly good because of their positions. The top is reborn; the bottom is rather weak early on but will gradually grow stronger as the story progresses.

2. The setting is fictional, a hodgepodge of Han and Tang dynasties and other eras. No historical accuracy intended.

3. This is a new author’s first novel. The court intrigue is amateurish; the main focus is the romance.

4. There are love rivals and dramatic confrontations, but the leads only love each other.
