Synopsis
After navigating the ups and downs of her career, the heroine Su Wan keeps asking herself: "Is being simple a mistake?"
An accident sets her on a journey through multiple lives. In each life, she fills in the gaps in her memories from the one before. Until she finally discovers that all these lives are merely parallel worlds, and that at the end of her life, she has one last chance to return to a moment she regrets.
The price: her life force. She might not make it back.
[First Life: Career and Conscience]
- Focus: Career ups and downs, and the origin of her self-doubt
- Reality wears her down, and she keeps wondering whether being "kind" was a mistake
- She dies unexpectedly and enters the next life
[Second Life: Reborn, First Life - Friendship]
- Starting point: Childhood
- State: With no memories of the past, she enters life anew
- Focus: Friendship
- Ending: As this life ends, she only vaguely senses that there are gaps in her life, but doesn't yet understand
- (Friendship is truly seen in the next life)
[Third Life: Reborn, Second Life - Romance]
- Starting point: She returns to the past once more
- State: She begins to have premonitions, vaguely sensing that the course of her life can be foreseen, though she is unsure, doesn't understand, and doesn't fully trust these premonitions
- Focus: The romance plot, filling in the memories of love missing from her first two lives
- Friendship plot: As this life ends, she clearly sums up two profound friendships, each lasting eighteen years
- These friendships actually span multiple lives, but she doesn't truly "see" their importance until the third life ends
- Foreshadowing deepens: The premonitions become more frequent, but she still chooses to ignore or question them
[Fourth Life: Reborn, Third Life - Family]
- Starting point: She returns to her life once more
- State: She fully believes the premonitions in her dreams. She can clearly foresee the course of her life and is certain the predictions are real
- Focus: The family plot, filling in her memories of family, especially her bond with her maternal grandmother
- Central choice: Knowing that being a good person will weigh her down, she still chooses to live with a conscience and without tormenting herself
- Attitude: She reminds herself, only in how she treats others, that "being a good person will weigh you down," but ultimately follows her heart
- Ending: After the fourth life ends, she discovers that all the lives she experienced were parallel worlds
[Final Choice: Relive One Life]
- Scene: Standing before a "screen," she looks back on the parallel lives she has experienced
- Dissuasion: Her friends from the parallel worlds urge her not to go back again. It will consume her life force, and she might never return
- Decision: She insists on reliving one life, just to make up for her regrets
- Limitation: This time, she can stay at each moment of regret for only 24 hours (one day)
[The Final Surprise]
- Preset rule: She can stay at each moment for only 24 hours
- What happens: When she returns to her grandmother's old home, she stays for a whole month
- The heroine's reaction: Overjoyed, she thinks the rules have loosened
- The truth: It's not a loophole. Her life is coming to an end. She uses the last of her time to stay in the place she most wants to be
[Ending]
- Two storylines unfold in parallel:
1. At the old home, she spends a month with her grandmother, making up for her regrets about family
2. In a hospital bed, her friends from the parallel worlds keep watch as they see her slowly pass away
Theme: People can start over many times, but in the end, they have to face one question: How do you want to live?
