First arc: Zuo Si, the Demon Sect's Left Protector, learns from a 'little book' that his leader, Ji Chengtian, will one day offer the entire Demon Sect as a betrothal gift, only to be rejected by that righteous beauty and die of sorrow. The Demon Sect will then fall into decline.
Zuo Si is horrified. 'Am I going to be part of the dowry too? And it still won't work? I worked so hard to become Left Protector. How can the sect decline after just a few years?'
So he starts hinting again and again that his leader must never fall into the trap of romance with someone from the righteous sect. But his leader seems not to understand what he means, even mocking him for having a screw loose. In the end, he tells Zuo Si to go raise a pig if he has nothing better to do.
Zuo Si is furious. Zuo Si feels wronged.
In the plot, on the eve of Ji Chengtian's encounter with the protagonist, Zuo Si sees that he can't stop his leader from going out alone. With great reluctance, he takes off his clothes and hides in his leader's bed.
He encourages himself: 'A real man! Offering myself for the future of the Demon Sect isn't out of the question!'
Ji Chengtian sees the lump under his blanket and assumes yet another elder has sent him a beauty. He gives a cold laugh and flips the blanket back, only to find his Left Protector, whose mind has been a little off lately, lying in his bed curtains, gazing at him with bright, sparkling eyes.
He pauses, then grips Zuo Si's chin and looks him over. Suddenly, he realizes that raising a pretty, stupid little puppy might not be such a bad idea.
