I Have Maxed-Out Athletic Talent, but I Just Want to Play Mahjong

Echizen Kanon has a dream: to become the national high school mahjong tournament champion!

But as a member of a sports-anime family, she comes equipped with [Incredible Intuition + MAX Athletic Ability].

Seeing how talented their little sister is at sports, her two older brothers put a tennis racket in her hands and say, “Kanon, give tennis a try! You'll definitely get hooked!”

You: ...

And every time her childhood friend, who can see people's physical stats, sees her, her eyes light up. “Kanon, let me train you into a world-class athlete!”

You: ???

Then there's her childhood friend who never stops shouting for her to join him whenever he starts practicing spikes...

You: So, anyone up for mahjong? We need three more players!

Echizen Kanon has had enough of living in a world full of sports anime. When it is time to choose a high school, she resolutely applies to Shiraitodai High, a prestigious mahjong school, but fails to get in.

Her childhood friend Riko Aida recommends Seirin High, but Seirin has no mahjong club. No way!

Her childhood friend Kotaro Bokuto recommends Fukurodani Academy, saying they can have fun playing volleyball together. Kanon, who has long since sworn off anything to do with sports, rejects him again! Besides, Fukurodani's entrance requirements are way too demanding. She could never get in!

Then an online friend who is always playing games tells her that their school has a mahjong club. The school is in Tokyo, and its entrance requirements are not too high.

It's close to home, has a mahjong club, and she has a decent chance of getting in. What else is there to say? Kanon puts it down as her top choice without a second thought.

And then...

Kanon looks at all the different cats around her and nearly flips the table. Why is this still a sports anime?!

P.S.

1. A crossover of slice-of-life, sports, and food anime.

2. The timeline is a mess, and there are loads of headcanons. Haikyuu!! is the main focus.

3. The heroine has her own mahjong ambitions and is looking for teammates to make it to nationals.

Theme: Keep persevering.
