The girl sitting astride a rock was about to continue when the boy next door, holding a book below, interrupted her and pointed to the time. "That's enough wonders for today."
Someone else called out from the front row, cutting in: "It's still early! Tell us more!" The girl pressed down the hand of the boy holding the book. "How can I refuse such an enthusiastic request? Ahem, let me tell you about..." And so she began again, for who knows how long.
"Are those things real? It seems like everyone likes them," the boy asked, carrying his books on his back, puzzled. The girl replied, "They're all in books. You read all day, don't you know?"
Before the boy could say, "I don't know," the girl continued: "You don't know? That's easy to fix. Go out and see for yourself. The world is right there."
They heard things, did things, and gained some things, for better or worse.
