[The entire story is told in first person.]
After abruptly quitting my teaching job, I came to Fenshui Village to clear my head. Strange and eerie things began happening around me on my very first day there. They included:
1. A real human scalp with boils and white pus appearing on a waterfall.
2. The mechanical, bizarre responses of a police officer, endlessly repeated over the emergency line.
3. Time inexplicably speeding up, then running backward out of order.
4. A terrifying ghostly figure that kept appearing in my dreams every time I fell asleep.
5. A car moving on its own, and a passerby who kept losing chunks of his memory.
Everything happening around me felt like a dream, utterly senseless. To stay alive and get out of this hellhole as soon as possible, the passerby and I returned to Fenshui Village to unravel the mystery behind it all, only to discover a string of tragedies hidden beneath the ignorant conventions of the local community.
