[From the gong's perspective:]
When Lu Yan was fourteen, his mecha was shot down, and a little robot crawled out of the wreckage.
It had a round head, an antenna broken halfway, and eyes like two washed-clean glass marbles.
It tilted its head at him, mistook him for one of its kind, and carefully dragged him out of the cockpit.
Lu Yan was about to kick it away, but then he realized the robot was unbelievably dumb. It couldn't even tell humans and robots apart. He closed his eyes and pretended to be unconscious. The little robot clumsily bandaged him, its antenna flashing frantically with worry.
Lu Yan: ...Fine, I'll trick it into being useful for now.
[From the shou's perspective:]
When the little robot woke up among the ruins, the world had already changed. It didn't know what the steel behemoths that fell from the sky were. It only knew the soft humans in its videotapes, and thought they were robots too, just ones that looked a little different.
It had saved one and wanted to save more. It liked humans very much, but humans didn't like it. They were afraid of it.
Only the boy it had dragged out of the mecha had a very mean mouth and a very fierce look, but secretly charged it, stood in front of it with a cold expression when it was bullied, and suddenly asked it in the middle of the night:
"What was your old home like?"
The little robot thought the boy was a very, very good robot. It wanted to stay with him for the rest of its life.
Reading notes:
1. 1v1, happy ending. The romance only begins once they're grown up; as children, they're just friends.
2. The male lead is Lu Yan. He's not a traditional self-sacrificing saint: he'll scheme and lie, but eventually falls hard.
3. The little robot is an entity of consciousness and recovers its memories later on.
4. Ensemble cast, mecha battles, stockpiling and daily life, and school life. The overall mood is lighthearted.
Theme: Love and trust can cross species and the stars.
