Free-spirited, unrestrained fire station captain who believes in staying single * ballet company’s prima ballerina with a severe sister complex
“Jiang Yiran, male, twenty-five years old, currently captain of the Nancheng Fire Department, 190 cm tall, weighs 90 kg, handsome and responsible. Seated at Table 3 by the window in Star Cafe...”
Cheng Tingxia recited the information her friend had sent her as she entered the cafe. Her gaze immediately landed on the man sitting at Table 3.
“You’re Cheng Tingxia, the girl I’m meeting for this blind date?”
The man wore a cold expression and had a handsome, rebellious air about him. He was dressed in a black T-shirt and black pants, and the arm resting on the table looked almost three times as thick as hers.
She nodded.
“Go back and tell the matchmaker there’s no chance for us.”
He didn’t like girls who were this skinny. She looked like she’d been pampered at home, and given the nature of his job, he might not be able to take good care of her.
Being together would definitely be a hassle.
Cheng Tingxia refused to give up. “Why? We’ve been sitting here for less than five minutes.”
Jiang Yiran had only come to go through the motions. He stood up, but when he heard her and saw the determination in her eyes, he sat back down.
He asked casually, “Why do you want to go on a blind date with me?”
Cheng Tingxia glanced at his sturdy arms and stammered, “I like you!”
Her affection was plain as day in her eyes.
*
From dating to the eve of their wedding, their relationship progressed by leaps and bounds. Faced with the man’s high needs and fierce desire, Cheng Tingxia spent every day with weak knees and an impassive face.
One time, the fire department put out a blaze at a ballet company and rescued a group of ballerinas who looked like fairies. A crowd of men surrounded them, asking for their contact information. One ballerina stood out in particular, and people crowded around her.
“Don’t you have anything better to do?”
“Captain Jiang’s here. Break it up!”
Captain Jiang had worn a cold expression from the moment the fire started, looking like the King of Hell.
His team scattered in a swarm.
Then they saw their cold-faced captain kneel before the most elegant-looking girl, carefully lifting her ankle in both hands.
She wouldn’t let him touch her, but he kept coaxing her:
“Does it hurt?”
“I’m sorry. Don’t avoid me anymore.”
“I’ll try to cut back on how often we do that.”
The tears in her eyes spilled over, and she threw herself into his arms.
Everyone: “????”
Had their cold-blooded, woman-avoiding Captain Jiang been possessed?
Jiang Yiran gently patted the girl’s back, his heart aching as Cheng Tingxia cried.
“How much are you cutting back?” she asked, nestling weakly against his chest.
The man’s lips curved. He’d known from their blind date that she was pampered, and back then he’d thought she’d be a lot of trouble, that he might not be able to take good care of her.
Now she was so sweet and delicate that he wanted to crush her in his arms. They were a perfect match in every way.
“Fourteen times a week.”
Cheng Tingxia: “...”
Jiang Yiran rested his cheek on her shoulder. “Baby, that really is my limit.”
*
With their wedding approaching, Cheng Tingxia was looking forward to living in the same home as her sister again.
Then her sister suddenly called off her wedding. Only then did Jiang Yiran learn that his older brother was supposed to marry Cheng Tingxia’s sister. He was forced to mediate and try to reconcile them.
He was about to knock on the door when he heard a familiar, soft voice from the other side.
This time, though, there was a hint of coldness in it.
“If my sister doesn’t marry, then I won’t either.”
“I went on a blind date with Jiang Yiran, got together with Jiang Yiran, and agreed to marry Jiang Yiran, all because of my sister.”
After Cheng Tingxia finished speaking, the door slowly opened, and she found herself face-to-face with Jiang Yiran, standing outside.
After that, everyone knew Jiang Yiran was going crazy pursuing a girl, and still couldn’t win her over.
#Turns out I was the one being played all along#
#Well, now he doesn’t have to get married either#
#Big brother, for your little brother’s happiness, please win her sister back#
