Developed by Kaiba Corporation, the competitive card game Duel Monsters had a random card pool with brutal odds. But thanks to its lifelike holographic projections and complete dueling system, it became a worldwide sensation as soon as it came out. With Kaiba Corporation's massive investment, it went on to become a professional league.
Mirai joined the tournament for its huge prize money and fun gameplay, but her card pool seemed a little different from everyone else's.

In short, Mirai used cards with an art style completely different from everyone else's, along with ridiculously arrogant-sounding lines, and fought her way into the finals.
