Zhong Yuxi's world is always raining. The red light of a surveillance camera glows in the corner, while her parents' expectations form an invisible umbrella frame, trapping her beneath a downpour called "excellence." She feels most at ease when she arches a brow at the cigarettes offered by delinquents. When she turns to accept the award for first place in her grade, there is no warmth in her eyes, not until she meets Zheng Zhuxuan.
Zheng Zhuxuan is like the June sun, her smile warm enough to melt ice. But no one knows about the scars she hides beneath that sunlight: her uncle's fists, the white walls beside her grandfather's hospital bed, and the family portrait shattered at the scene of a car accident when she was in eighth grade. She carved "become better" into her bones, but in the face of Zhong Yuxi's cold gaze, for the first time she wanted to expose a wound that had not yet healed.
One waits for the rain to clear, while the other chases the light, hoping to become light herself. When a rebellious shadow overlaps with fragments of sunlight, they finally understand: salvation means being willing to soften your edges for me, and daring to tear away your disguise for you.
If this rain ever stops, then let it be "Ling Yu."
