Second Chance Reunion | Mutual Healing | From Campus to the City
Gentle and sweet x Wild and unruly
1.
Cen Chu first met Xu Jingyi on a rainy day in midsummer.
She brought an umbrella for the boy who was her brother in name only.
The rain pattered down. The young man was tall and handsome, his hands in his pockets. He didn't take the umbrella she held out to him.
With an air of careless defiance, he warned her impatiently, "Don't call me your brother when we're out. I'll never acknowledge you."
Cen Chu kept to her place, as obedient and well-behaved as ever. She never mentioned their relationship to anyone.
But just a few months later, everyone around Xu Jingyi knew he doted on his little sister more than anything.
The day Cen Chu heard the rumors, she went home and carefully explained to Xu Jingyi, "I didn't tell anyone."
"I know." Xu Jingyi lazily lifted his eyes to look at her. "I told them."
Later, on a stormy night, Cen Chu called Xu Jingyi. He traveled a great distance to come home and stayed by her side all night.
"How about you stop being my little sister and become my girlfriend?"
He could pull her into his arms with irresistible force, then gently soothe her to sleep. He made a passionate confession with drones in the night sky and tattooed her name over his heart.
But the relationship lasted only six months before it faded away.
When they broke up, Xu Jingyi said coldly, "Cen Chu, you should know that I never look back."
Cen Chu left without a care.
Xu Jingyi realized that she was the one who never looked back.
2.
When they met again, Xu Jingyi was an untouchable rising star in tech, while Cen Chu was just a reporter beginning to make a name for herself.
During the interview, Xu Jingyi looked at her without a flicker of emotion.
Cen Chu thought he didn't remember her at all.
But not long after, at a blind date,
Xu Jingyi barged in, took her away without a word, and held her there, no longer able to control himself.
"Chu Chu, don't you want your big brother anymore?"
Cen Chu turned her gaze away, her voice cool and flat. "You said you never look back."
"I was wrong."
His eyes reddened, and he said in a trembling voice, "Please, look back at me."
