Please, Have Mercy on Me

Since ancient times, the eastern kingdom from which the Shinan Gong clan hails has been closely connected to plants. The goddess they worship, especially, has the miraculous ability to control them.

During a great calamity, the World Tree transformed into wandering spirits and Shadi, who trampled the clans and lineages underfoot. Though the eastern kingdom had the power to fight back, it chose to stand aside, and was consequently condemned and ostracized by everyone.

Later, the surviving tribes voluntarily followed the dragon clan. They used a forbidden art to infuse themselves with dragon blood and gain its power, then joined forces to establish Night City and defend against the invaders. For reasons unknown, the eastern kingdom was suddenly attacked. Its people fled to the gates of Night City, but every tribe firmly opposed taking them in because of the eastern kingdom's past actions. Only Xuanyi, the king of the dragon clan, defied the opposition and granted them a place to live on the outskirts, on the condition that they never leave the restricted zone.

Overnight, the once-noble people of the eastern kingdom became reviled rats in the streets of Night City, despised by all.

The proud people of the eastern kingdom were always dreaming of restoring their former glory. But the only way to gain status in Night City was to become a dragon descendant through the selection held once every five years. So they sent out countless applications, but every one of them vanished without a trace.

Shinan Gong, the goddess, also hoped to escape this living hell. She sent out application after application, but never heard back.

Then one day, the outskirts were attacked, and the people of the eastern kingdom were slaughtered. Shinan Gong fled all the way to the restricted zone. Just as Shadi was about to finish her off, a noble young man in black robes, with features as fine as jade, cut off Shadi's head with a single sword stroke and saved her. He was Milu Jin, son of Xuanyi and the future most powerful person in Night City. Once she learned who he was, Shinan Gong realized that she had found her only chance to escape her fate.

So she knelt before Milu Jin's carriage as he journeyed home, weeping and begging for his mercy. She cried that she was now the only one left from the eastern kingdom and pleaded with him to take her with him, let her enter Night City and become a dragon descendant, and give her a chance to avenge her people.

Milu Jin's expression remained indifferent, but in the end, pity stirred in his heart. He reached out and lifted the bamboo curtain, making an agreement with Shinan Gong: from then on, she must bury her identity as the eastern kingdom's goddess and stay by his side as an ordinary person, entering Night City. If she wanted to become a dragon descendant, she would have to rely on her own abilities. The rest would be up to fate...

Theme: The female lead, the last survivor of her exterminated clan, clings to the crown prince's sleeve and enters Night City, determined to climb to a throne of glory and nobility amid the whirlpool of the mortal world.
