Who was he? His features were strikingly similar to Lu Xuyan's, or rather, to the Lu Xuyan she had imagined.
His brows were slightly raised, a faint air of arrogance in his eyes. His chin was lifted, and his features were sharp and well-defined.
But Shen Rongzheng knew perfectly well that he wasn't Lu Xuyan.
Doubts gathered. Her sister was swamped with work at her company, while her brother-in-law chose this moment to bring up a business trip back home. Shen Rongzheng volunteered to return to China, determined to get to the bottom of the mystery.
As soon as she landed and got everything sorted, she took a deep breath and typed “Lu Xuyan” into the search bar.

She refused to believe Lu Xuyan would do any of those things. Thinking of that face that resembled his, Shen Rongzheng's expression turned cool, and she suddenly let out a scornful laugh.
A bunch of people had been bullying her darling while she was gone. She was going to stand up for Lu Xuyan.
Cold rain pattered down. Lu Xuyan pulled his coat tighter and opened the door to take out the trash, when a soft, fragrant figure threw herself into his arms.
Clatter
The trash hit the ground.
The girl lifted her head from his arms, tears running down her face, the tip of her nose flushed pink. Her voice was soft and trembling with sobs. “Lu Xuyan, they're all bullying you.”
“But I'm here now. I'll protect you.”
Thump, thump
Warmth spread through him. His heart, silent for far too long, slowly came back to life, beating once, then again.
He wrapped his arms around the girl helplessly, only hoping she would stop crying.
The whole world had abandoned him, but his whole world came running toward him, backlit by the sun.
