My Imperial Uncle (Imperial Examination)

Shen Nanjue died unexpectedly and transmigrated as the daughter of a small family in Jiangnan.

To protect the family fortune, she had no choice but to live disguised as a boy. Fortunately, her mother doted on her and her older sister was gentle. She had plenty to eat and drink, and lived a carefree life.

She entered the imperial examinations on a whim and even became the top graduate in her prefecture.

The realm was full of worthy and talented people.

On the eve of her departure for the capital, her mother advised her, "My child, you're already so capable. Don't push yourself too hard. If you don't pass, just come home and inherit the family business."

Others also offered their earnest advice: "Eat and drink well. The metropolitan exam isn't important. Don't let yourself get thin."

Shen Nanjue obediently agreed.

But...

There were certainly plenty of strange incidents along the way.

When she reached the capital, the guards at the gate inexplicably knelt before her.

When she entered the examination hall, the officials who saw her couldn't hide their astonishment.

Shen Nanjue was baffled.

After she successfully finished the metropolitan exam, she saw the emperor's face and went, "!!!"

Why are you my uncle?!

Reader's notes:

1. The imperial exams and everyday life, slow burn, plenty of family matters. The story follows her from childhood to adulthood.

2. The setting is entirely fictional. The imperial exam system combines elements from the Song and Ming dynasties, so please don't nitpick historical accuracy. Quotes from and translations of the Four Books and Five Classics come from online sources.

3. Romance, with a male lead. In her previous life, she was a cat; after transmigrating to ancient times, she is human.

4. This trope isn't unique. Search for the keywords on this or other sites if you like. Please don't accuse me of copying tropes or blurbs.
