Your Majesty, Please Acknowledge Your Kin

[New novel, The Bianjing Eatery, updating now]

Chen Xing'er, the most unremarkable young woman in the capital, has never had bigger worries than her huge appetite, her family's poverty, and her overly striking looks. That is, until the day a handsome man with black hair and dark robes walked into her home and said he wanted to take her mother as a concubine.

She didn't want to agree, but first, her family was very poor, and second, her mother seemed quite happy about it.

Who knew her stepfather's estate would be more magnificent than the imperial palace, with maids kneeling to greet them in ceremonies worthy of a court procession? Then one day, an imperial decree arrived from the palace: "By the Mandate of Heaven, the Emperor decrees: Consort Chen is gentle and virtuous, and is hereby promoted to Noble Consort. Her daughter, Chen Xing'er, is hereby named Princess Qingning and granted the stipend of a princess."

Chen Xing'er's hands trembled as she held the decree. Wait! Her mother was a Noble Consort, which meant her stepfather was the Emperor!

But why was the little beggar boy who used to beg alongside her now at the palace school?
