After waking up, Wu Pianpian found herself inside the sweet xianxia novel she'd been reading.
Unfortunately, she wasn't the heroine of the romance, or a rich, beautiful, curvy young lady of a supporting character. She was just a poor, foolish, low-level cannon-fodder supporting character: the other woman who tried to steal the male lead after he got engaged to the heroine, and whose ending was utterly tragic.
Her famous line was: "The one who isn't loved is the real third party."
And the scene she'd arrived in?
After sending the male lead pastries and love letters for a whole month without getting a response, she had blocked his way after he returned from hunting. She was about to confess to him in front of everyone and deliver that famous line.
Wu Pianpian looked at the cool, indifferent male lead, the female lead watching her with curiosity, and the crowd gathered to gossip.
Male lead: "What do you want to say?"
She absolutely couldn't get mixed up with the leads!
Wu Pianpian blurted out, "I want to say that I like Qin Jibai. I'm really worried about him. Can you take me to see him?"
Qin Jibai was the male lead's friend.
He had been taken back to Jinling a month ago to recuperate.
Everyone present froze. Huh? She liked Qin Jibai?
The moment she said it, Wu Pianpian regretted it.
Qin Jibai had every dangerous trait imaginable.
He was born frail, coughed up blood, couldn't tolerate bright light, preferred staying in the dark, had exceptionally keen hearing, hated people speaking loudly, and suffered agonizing pain from old injuries whenever it rained.
He was someone who couldn't go out on sunny days and felt miserable on rainy ones.
Though he seemed gentle and harmless, he was actually a madman: volatile, and even more ruthless than the male lead when it came to killing. Sometimes the male lead had to stop him.
He'd only ever been kind to the male lead, until the female lead came along.
In the book, Wu Pianpian was eventually killed by Qin Jibai.
Wu Pianpian: Maybe I should pack up and run away after all. Staying away from the main characters is the only way to survive.
But some irresistible force wouldn't let her escape, and made her pursue the male lead just as the story demanded. So Wu Pianpian acted like she had a split personality, saying she liked Qin Jibai while constantly getting close to the male lead.

Qin Jibai had the appearance and physique of a refined scholar: lean and handsome.
But reading gave him headaches from childhood, and he preferred martial arts.
His poor health made him short-tempered and impatient, and he often flew into a rage.
That contrast made many people who approached him eventually grow to hate him and leave.
Besides, he had a close friend who came from an even more prominent family, had greater talent, and shone more brightly than he did.
He'd never had much luck with women.
When a silly, foolish girl barged into his life and said she liked him, he could only feel annoyed.
He hated spending time with girls most of all.
But he couldn't be bothered to respond. She'd give up soon enough.
Yet as the days passed, she kept loudly declaring that she liked him, that she would never want anyone but him, and that she wouldn't stop until she won him over.
But...
Why was his good friend there every time she confessed?
Why did she always hand her gifts for him to his good friend?
Why did her gaze always settle on his good friend?

On a rainy, gloomy night, Wu Pianpian embraced Qin Jibai as his old injuries flared, hoping to comfort him and ease his pain.
Instead, he held her even tighter, as if he were trying to crush her into his bones.
He bit fiercely into her neck. His voice was as harsh as ever, but if you listened closely, there was a hint of hurt.
"You're a liar. Who do you actually like?"
