Originally just an experimental subject, Signal-03 was accidentally rescued by Batman and Jason. She became Jason's "older sister" and received a name of her own: Chen Momo.
After Jason came back from the dead, she followed him to the League of Assassins. They both bathed in the Lazarus Pit, and she unexpectedly gained the ability to stabilize Jason's emotions. Talia even called her an excellent emotional stabilizer for Jason.
To help Jason truly come back to life, and stop being a shell filled with nothing but rage, Chen Momo took the simplest path:
She would bear his madness for him.
As her anger intensified, her soul became corporeal, and her emotions synced with Jason's... Chen Momo eventually became the perfect "test subject" in Talia's eyes, a product for stabilizing Jason.
Talia looked at her.
"Beacon, will you be yourself, or will you be Jason's salvation?"
Chen Momo chose Jason with almost no hesitation.
At first, Jason didn't notice. He only had a vague feeling that something was wrong.
Only later did he realize:
Every time he regained his senses, she was the one paying the price for him.
Later, Jason asked, "Momo, why are you always so 'sunny'?"
Chen Momo thought for a moment.
"Because I want you to see hope."
Batman stood nearby, saying nothing.
