I am a Cloud Knight.
For as long as I can remember, I've been a Cloud Knight.
Of course, some outsiders don't call me a Cloud Knight. They call me a constable, a regulator, a city guard, or a pursuit NPC.
Strange names, just as strange as the fact that they call themselves players.
As a Cloud Knight, my life is perfectly ordinary.
I get up at five every morning and choose the day's outfit from hundreds of identical suits of armor.
I finish choosing at six, when it's time to eat. I have breakfast at a roadside stall and strike up a conversation with the people who spawn there too.
At seven, the players start spawning in. They bring me all kinds of strange gifts, and I respond with one of the following: "Great, I love it." "Thank you for your gift." "Thanks, I'll take it."
- The players say that giving me gifts on the eighth day of each month raises my affection level the most.
- I don't know what an affection level is, but the Cloud Knights get paid on the eighth of every month, and I'm in a good mood all day.
At eight, I officially start work. During my shift, I arrest every player who violates the public security laws, right up until eight at night.
After that, I read bedtime stories for an hour and go to sleep before ten, without anyone disturbing me.
That's an ordinary day in the life of a Cloud Knight.
Attached: an ordinary work report:
January X: A player stole watermelon from Granny Wang's house. The culprit was arrested. During the arrest, several mara-struck soldiers who obstructed the law were killed.
February X: A player trampled a field and hid among the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus. The culprit was arrested. During the arrest, 137 Disciples of Sanctus Medicus and several Vidyadhara elders interfered with law enforcement, and were arrested as well.
X year, X month, X day: A player attacked a mechanimals bird and fled. During the pursuit, the player was found fighting an Emanator. Fighting in the city violates public security laws, so both were arrested.
"Wait, wait!"
The culprit had something to say, so I lowered my head to listen.
"I'm level one at launch, and you beat me up, fine. But after I finally reach level eighty and can fight an Emanator, you can still beat me up?!"
Hmm...
"That's just how the game works," I said.
As a pursuit NPC, I'm supposed to be strong enough to suppress players.
