The last subway train pulls in late at night. The doors that should have opened are blocked by something that appears out of nowhere...
A game console?
Exhausted office workers getting off after a late shift, college students heading out for fun... Everyone stares in shock as a cheerful child's voice says to them:
[Ding-a-ling~ Ding-a-ling~ Let's play a game together~]
[Welcome to Game City]
[Survive the apocalypse, role-play, thrilling battle royale, solve mysteries... Game City has all kinds of new and exciting games. Come play with us~]
Only Ren Wei hears a different voice.
[My dear veteran player, welcome back to Game City]
[You cleared the ultimate dungeon in your last game. Your game data has been deleted, so you'll need to start a new save to return]
[As the first veteran player to return to Game City, you have been granted the special identity "Player Zero"]
[Dear Player Zero, please begin a new gaming adventure~]
Ren Wei slowly types out a question mark.
How does she not remember ever playing this game?!
But then
[A campus surrounded by zombies, a 24-hour race to escape, thrilling and intense!!!]
[A billionaire dies under mysterious circumstances. Seven heirs gather at a luxurious manor to fight over the inheritance. A scandalous family feud: who will come out on top?!]
[A cozy, happy home. After the owner falls asleep, a doll with button eyes and a stitched mouth glows red and reveals its horrifying true face]
[Welcome to the Dollhouse]
There's a wide variety of games, all with thrillingly realistic experiences. PVP and PVE modes are both available~
Ren Wei, hardcore gamer, has stars in her eyes.
Fun! Addictive! Whatever the genre, give her one! Hundred! More rounds!
And so, perfect-clear records in the beginner zone skyrocket, achievement collections grow by leaps and bounds, and the average game score shoots up!
In the central zone, where top players from every corner gather, a server-wide announcement rings out.
[We warmly welcome Player Zero back to Game City]
[To celebrate the return of a veteran player, Game City has created a special achievement: "Player Zero's Approval." Players who earn this achievement can unlock the ultimate dungeon and challenge Game City to a full clear~]
Player Zero's return sets all of Game City abuzz.
Meanwhile, Ren Wei is so absorbed in gaming that she can't tear herself away.
Top players flood the public chat with messages, and factions scour every inch of the city, determined to find the legendary "Player Zero" and earn the special achievement.
Ren Wei, realizing all this far too late: ...Somehow I've become an NPC who gives out game achievements. The problem is, the game never told me how to approve anyone.
She goes right back to gaming, unable to tear herself away.
Until she's stopped on the street by Game City's notorious number one player.
The handsome young man fixes his deep, dark eyes on her and gets straight to the point:
"I've found you, Player Zero. What do I have to do to earn your approval?"
Ren Wei: "...Play games with me?"
Theme: Even in darkness, keep your heart turned toward the light
