Who Told You to Get in the Car?

[Doctor bottom x Photographer top]

Xia Fengyi studied medicine for nine years, but a freak accident injured the hand he needed for surgery.

Devastated, he floored the accelerator and drove off to northern Xinjiang to clear his head.

Under the high moon, on a deserted highway, Xia Fengyi spots someone waving a reflector to flag down a car. He stops out of kindness.

The moment he rolls down the window, his polite question dies on his lips and turns into, "Damn."

Five years after their breakup, his first love and ex-boyfriend shows up like this? Heaven really has it in for him.

--

Because of a film crew's work, Qin Song arrives early with his photography equipment to scout locations, only to have his motorcycle break down halfway there.

He waves down a car and runs into the ex-boyfriend he's been longing for. It's as if his ancestors answered his prayers.

"Can I get a ride?"

"No."

"Please. I'll pay you."

"Begging won't help. You think I'd care about the few pennies you've got in your pocket?"

"..."

Five years have passed, and Little Sunshine's temper has gotten worse.

Qin Song sighs helplessly, opens the door, and gets in.

Xia Fengyi snorts. "Who said you could get in? How shameless can you be?"

Qin Song smiles gently, understanding him as always. "I thought you weren't leaving because you couldn't bear to abandon me."

--

Qin Song lost his parents when he was young. He grew up relying on the kindness of others, raising his younger sister, who has heart disease. He lived in the cheapest rental room on the street corner, day after day feeling the dampness and darkness of life.

Until one day, Xia Fengyi said to him, "Qin Song, get in. I'll take you out into the sun."
