Kis and Shanyao's mutual salvation
At the freshman welcome ceremony, the gloomy senior Kis, a Maine Coon, was performing onstage when the sunny puppy-like junior Shanyao's unabashedly passionate gaze from the audience made his heart stumble. After coming offstage, Shanyao approached him with all the sincerity in his heart and awkwardly asked if they could get to know each other. To his surprise, Kis readily agreed.
A familiar ruffle of the hair and a promise kept brought the two, who had once had no connection, gradually closer. Kis quietly watched over Shanyao from the sidelines, aching for the sensitivity and loneliness beneath his seemingly cheerful exterior. Shanyao, meanwhile, regretted acting on impulse and lay awake at night, feeling anxious and uncertain.
When Kis took the initiative to break the ice and apologize, giving Shanyao a blue crystal stud earring as a token of his feelings, the embrace in which neither had yet confessed became the beginning of their mutual salvation. Warm sunshine finally melted the iceberg, and in each other's eyes, the boys found a tenderness and a place to belong that were theirs alone.
