Everyone in the capital knew that Shen Heng, the youngest son of Prince Zhao Shen Bin, was extraordinarily gifted. Before he had even come of age, he had already led an army to drive back the Northern Di.
But no one knew that Shen Heng had asked three times to go to war, only to be turned down each time by Prime Minister Xiao Yan with the words, “I won't approve it.”
“You're not of age yet. You're full of youthful vigor and not level-headed enough.”
“You're only four years older than me!”
“The battlefield is cruel.”
“I still want to go.”
“I'll wait for your triumphant return.”
