A controlling, powerful man in a position of privilege x a resilient, slow-witted country boy
A deliciously melodramatic, old-school tale of possessive love and mutual torment
"Love makes the powerful bow their heads."

Chen Ji's family ran a full-service funeral business.
They handled everything: transporting bodies, setting up funeral halls, chanting sutras and playing funeral music... They could even provide the banquet food.
Chen Ji never went to high school. Instead, he studied cooking at New Oriental, and after graduating, naturally took on the family's business, handling funeral banquets and promotion.
One day, while out drumming up business, he was in such a hurry that he accidentally scraped a luxury car.
Staring at the little gold mascot gleaming in the sunlight, Chen Ji nearly blacked out. But he'd caused the trouble, so he had to take responsibility. With trembling hands, he tore off a scrap of paper and wrote down his phone number.

"N-no compensation needed?"
Chen Ji's bowed head shot up. His eyes met a pair of deep, sharp ones, then darted away as if he'd been shocked.
The man before him was tall. The fluorescent light behind him couldn't reach past his broad shoulders, leaving Chen Ji shrouded in a somber shadow.
"No need," the man said steadily, without a hint of emotion. "You can go."
Chen Ji let out a huge sigh of relief, secretly grateful for the man's generosity. He bowed at a ninety-degree angle and thanked him over and over.
The man said nothing more, only nodded before turning to leave, his coat swinging with each step.
Watching the black figure recede, Chen Ji bit his lip as if making up his mind, then called after him.
"Um, s-sir." When he was nervous, he tended to stammer.
The man stopped and looked back.
Chen Ji quickly raised the heavy dark green canvas bag in his hand. It had been a free gift from the bank for opening an account.
"Th-these are freshly made pork-and-scallion buns. The filling is handmade at home and really fresh. If you don't mind, please take some and try them!"
And so on, and so forth. Chen Ji became Zhao Jingduo's personal chef. He sincerely looked up to this mature, wealthy, powerful man, who seemed to have every attribute maxed out.
After all, even the crumbs that fell through Zhao Jingduo's fingers were gold dust. A little of that could earn him as much as a whole year of backbreaking work in the funeral business.
Half gratitude, half admiration. Chen Ji wasn't good with words, so he could only express himself awkwardly through his actions, secretly swearing to serve Zhao Jingduo loyally with all his might.
But at some point, things began to go in a direction Chen Ji hadn't expected...

The velvet sofa in the private room.
Cool blue-violet light spilled down, illuminating the pale, carefully made-up face of the young man being carried out by bodyguards, the dark red wine stain spreading across Zhao Jingduo's shirt, and the plaid handkerchief in Chen Ji's hand.
Zhao Jingduo lowered his eyes to watch Chen Ji carefully wipe him clean.
Though a little drunk, Chen Ji's movements were still proper. He didn't dare overstep in the slightest. But the shirt was so thin that Zhao Jingduo could still feel the firm, powerful muscles beneath it.
The people around them really had no sense... Chen Ji felt rather pleased with himself. I'm the only one who thought to come over and help.
"What a shame," the man said. "It was a good wine."
"I-I think so too." Chen Ji couldn't actually tell, but to keep the conversation going, he forced himself to reply. "It smells lovely, so it must taste good too, "
"Want to try some?"
The man asked suddenly.
Chen Ji gave a simple, honest smile. "Of course."
"...Then try it," the man said. "There's some left."
Chen Ji froze.
The young man had just dropped the bottle. It had shattered, and the wine had spilled. The only wine left was... in the glass Zhao Jingduo was holding.
If the boss said it was fine, that meant he didn't mind sharing a glass. Besides, they were both men. What was there to be squeamish about?
So without giving it another thought, Chen Ji naturally took the glass and took a small sip.
He still couldn't make out the flavor, only finding it sour and bitter, but he praised it anyway. Then he lifted his face and smiled ingratiatingly.
The corners of Chen Ji's eyes drooped slightly. With his bright, round black eyes and short sideburns, he naturally looked timid and honest. Now his full lips were tinged a faint red, moist and enticing.
Zhao Jingduo's eyes narrowed slightly.
A few steps away, the assistant arrived late with a fresh bottle of wine and stared in shock. Neither going in nor backing out, he quietly closed the door at the man's signal.

Chen Ji was an old-fashioned, family-oriented man who still dreamed of a wife and children waiting for him at home. After Zhao Jingduo helped him build a modest career, one day, while drunk, he accidentally let his true feelings slip.
"Boss Zhao, you're the benefactor of my family and me. When I get married and have kids one day, could I have my child call you G-Godfather?"
Zhao Jingduo paused, then chuckled softly.
Chen Ji took that as a yes, and his heart warmed. He was just about to say more when he heard a click.
The car doors had locked.
