[Seasonal one-on-one romances, with a love rivalry. The Bruce arc is currently underway.]
Freya lost her memory.
The good news: she had a System.
The bad news: the System’s data had been attacked by an unknown source, and it had "lost its memory" too.
The girl and the System stared at each other for a long moment.
Freya looked at her completely empty wallet and asked the System, "Do you have one of those little quests where I do something and get a hundred million so I never have to worry about food and money again?"
System: "...I’m not a wishing well!"
The System looked through its data streams. "But I found out you seem to have an ex-boyfriend who really loves you. How about you give him another chance?"
Freya, who had no interest in suffering, thought it was a great idea.
So she put up a missing-person notice.
*
A big, black bat came looking for her.
He gazed at Freya, his eyes burning with restrained intensity. "I knew you were still alive."
Seeing how destitute Freya was, he generously gave her a black card and casually showed off his luxurious manor, saying she could move in whenever she wanted.
Freya had only meant to take a chance, but when she found out her ex-boyfriend was both a superhero and a rich guy, she happily decided to latch onto him.
But just as she was about to go home with him, Freya was suddenly thrown into the past by her System, which had started spewing gibberish.
She even landed in the bed of her "ex-boyfriend" Batman, who was much younger and didn’t know her yet.
"Who are you?" he asked warily.
Still broke and now undocumented, Freya thought for three seconds, then kissed him on the cheek. "Your girlfriend."
Batman: ?
To keep a better eye on her, Batman denied it even as he tacitly allowed Freya to stay by his side.
Not long afterward, Batman indulgently caught his little girlfriend as she leaped into his arms, then chided her, "You’ll hurt yourself if you do that, Freya."
Batman was great. He was a little controlling, but Freya was so spoiled she could get away with anything.
But he didn’t take care of himself and often came home nearly dead. After her attempts to talk sense into him failed, Freya decided to break up with him rather than become a widow.
After Batman was promoted to ex-boyfriend, Freya returned to her original timeline.
Freya was baffled: ?
The very next day, another man who claimed to be her ex-boyfriend showed up at her door.
This time, he was a quintessential American sweetheart.
He held Freya tightly, looking as if he were about to cry. "I finally found you."
The moment he finished speaking, the System glitched again and threw Freya into the past.
She looked around and saw only one familiar face: the younger, thinner version of her "ex-boyfriend," waiting nearby for a blind date.
She walked over to him as if they were old friends. "Hi, I’m your girlfriend."
The soldier: "But I don’t have a girlfriend."
Freya: "Well, now you do."
After hearing Freya spin a whole story of nonsense, the soldier took her in, though he was only half convinced.
Some time later, the soldier stammered, blushing as he asked, "Would you be my girlfriend? I mean, officially..."
Even though she was poor, Freya got fresh roses, hot meals, kisses, and hugs every day.
But after the soldier got buff, he often stayed away from home. Freya always felt like she came second to him, so when he set off for the battlefield yet again, she broke up with him.
Back in her original timeline, Freya suddenly understood.
Those so-called ex-boyfriends were all men she’d gone back in time to meet and then broken up with.
Soon, a third ex-boyfriend came looking for her.
He was a ridiculously handsome Kryptonian in a skintight suit.
Freya was thrown back in time again, and the whole routine repeated: she turned her newly met ex-boyfriend into her boyfriend, then broke up with him again.
Next, she met a fourth, then a fifth ex-boyfriend...
Freya had been through this so many times that she hurriedly took down her notice looking for ex-boyfriends.
She blocked all the new ex-boyfriends who were eager to get back together, took her black card, and prepared to enjoy life for a while.
But as soon as she went out, aliens invaded.
After the superhero dealt with the crisis, he turned around, saw her, and rushed over to grab her hand.
"You..."
Before he could finish, Freya was thrown through time again.
Freya, completely numb by now: ...
How is this one also an ex-boyfriend?
How many ex-boyfriends does she have to create?
When will this ever end!
Reading Guide:
◇ The heroine is a spoiled, pretty girl. Her combat ability varies wildly, she has a terrible personality, and she treats romance casually (she can fall in love with anyone, and her feelings for each are sincere).
◇ The romance is one-on-one for stretches at a time, with a love rivalry in the middle. The later relationship dynamics depend on how things unfold.
◇ A crossover of DC and Marvel, with my take on superheroes. There will be a huge amount of original worldbuilding to serve the plot. At heart, this is a reverse-harem romance novel. Don’t ask why they fall in love. The whole point is romance.
Theme: Love means cherishing each other.
Thank you to heaven, thank you to earth, thank you for your hard work~
