Shi Chu & Gu Mo
Twenty days before the apocalypse, Shi Chu was reborn.
She remembered how Gu Mo died: that taciturn woman had shoved her into a safe house during a zombie horde, but never made it inside herself. Before that, they had barely spoken. They were just strangers in the same survivor group.
Back in the past, Shi Chu had only one thought: find Gu Mo and keep her alive.
But this time, things were different. Shi Chu didn't go to a base or join any group. Instead, twenty days before the apocalypse began, she waited on Gu Mo's way home from work.
"Come with me," she said.
Gu Mo looked at her and asked, "Why should I?"
"Because I can keep you alive," Shi Chu replied.
Later, they crossed one deserted city after another, evading both zombie hordes and people even more terrifying than the undead. Little by little, Gu Mo realized that this woman who had appeared out of nowhere knew what she liked to eat, what scared her, which roads were safe, and which buildings they must avoid. It was as if she had known her for a very long time.
A very, very long time.
Long enough to have died for her once.
This time, let me lead you to safety. No base, no group. Just the two of us.
And then, perhaps, I can try to fall in love with you.
