[Flower spirit X gardener, a story about a devoted young woman and a gentle older man]
Han Ying is a young daisy spirit.
After she became a spirit, she enjoyed a happy life on a warm southern mountain, surrounded by lush green grass. Though her siblings were all unconscious, Han Ying was surrounded by them and never felt lonely.
She was happy to live that way forever.
Then her peaceful life was suddenly upended. People began plucking daisy petals in droves. Han Ying watched her friends and family fall to the ground one by one, her heart aching beyond measure.
She was powerless to stop them, and couldn’t understand why.
At last, one day, Han Ying learned the truth:
Damn it! Some foreigner had spread the rumor that daisies could be used to divine the future of one’s love life!
These humans claimed to be reserved, but the moment romance came up, why did they throw caution to the wind and start fortune-telling?
There was nothing Han Ying could do but train hard, take human form, and lead the remaining flowers all the way to the Myriad Sword Sect.
The sect was famous for its path of emotionlessness. Her kind would surely thrive there!
But not long after joining the sect, Han Ying noticed something was wrong. Why were the daisies still disappearing?
She looked closer and realized: Oh no, why are there so many lovesick fools on the path of emotionlessness, too?
Humans at the foot of the mountain merely plucked flowers, which was already bad enough. These emotionless cultivators were even more ridiculous, letting their studies fall by the wayside and even threatening to destroy the world.
At last, Han Ying couldn’t hold back anymore.
She drew her sword.
“Ah! Don’t anyone stop me! I’m going to slaughter this whole lot of love-crazed fools!”
Later, Han Ying found a good place for the daisies, just as she’d hoped.
There was a gardener on the back mountain of the Myriad Sword Sect who was wonderful at looking after flowers and plants. Han Ying became friends with this most reliable of humans.
“Big Brother Bai, you’re amazing. I’ve got three more little cousins already.” Han Ying stared at the buds, then looked up at Bai Lan with a smile.
Bai Lan smiled without a word.
“You’re the best, caring for flowers and plants with all your heart. People who go mad over romance are so annoying.”
Bai Lan’s smile froze, and he went back to his daily brooding.
Alas, what’s a guy to do when the woman he loves despises lovesick fools, but he’s a lovesick fool himself?
