Maizi's family has an old music box that has been gathering dust for years.
One night, the old music box suddenly began to play, and the little dancing figures held a ball.
Maizi, unable to sleep, became the ball's guest of honor.
This story was inspired by the heirloom music box in my home. When you turn the little dancer clockwise, it spins counterclockwise and plays music. So I wondered: could these little figures be having a grand celebration in some unseen corner at midnight? I wrote this story for children and adults alike, because we all have a childlike heart.
