Lin Hui has spent two hundred years at the Foundation Establishment stage, with no hope of ascending. After transmigrating into a Sentinel-and-Guide world, she discovers that Sentinels are leaking their souls, while Guides can't hold their bodies together. The Tower says they're born defective and have to be bound together to survive. What does she care? But she's cooped up and itching to do something, so she starts teaching people. The Tower comes to capture her, and she escapes into the Turbid Tide, unable to shake off a string of people trailing behind her, all of whom she once rescued on a whim.
