Jian Shuo, a has-been star who's been dragged through the mud across the internet, has seen plenty in his time, but even he is baffled.
The apocalypse strikes, chaos erupts at the film studio, and people flee for their lives.
Ding! A countdown sounds in Jian Shuo's head.
Card-drawing System binding in progress: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
A flashing screen pops up, blocking his view as he runs.
Jian Shuo waves it away with one hand without hesitation: %￥@# (a colorful greeting)
The card-drawing System keeps sucking up to him for attention. Jian Shuo ignores it, until it issues a warning and forcibly opens the starter pack.
Things start out fairly normal, until he draws a crystal ball, aromatic essential oils, a passion-inducing hot spring...
Jian: ?
And how did that missing person suddenly drop from the sky, wielding a busted blade as he fought his way out of a horde of zombies?
What happened to that refined, scholarly family background?
Jian Shuo solemnly pulls a deck of cards from his pocket and hands it to the man beside him. "Eat."
Gu Yunqi: ...I don't understand, but I'll do it. (chewing)
Assistant: Boss... conducting... a Turing test... on God Gu. (scribbling)
The apocalypse gets more and more outrageous. Zombies mutate, and humans awaken supernatural abilities.
Jian Shuo, who has no powers, looks up at the sky. It's fine. Drawing cards is pretty good too. He can do the missions, he can overcome the negative buffs, but what the hell does that busted System mean by telling him to kill Gu Yunqi?
Later, Jian Shuo becomes an honored guest at an official base and a beacon of hope in the dark apocalypse.
"Jian Shuo has helped so many people all by himself. Isn't he basically the man-mom of all us ability users?"
"You really aren't afraid of death, are you, buddy? The God of Death, Gu, is coming over with a blade!"
Humanity can't do without Jian Shuo.
