Lin Chenzhou, a womanizer and a total scumbag, transmigrates into a melodramatic novel as the second male lead, competing with the domineering male lead for the heroine.
He's a poor, neurotic, insecure cannon fodder who fails to come between the leads and is instead tortured to death by the male lead, a deranged control freak.
Luckily, the story hasn't started yet,
and the male lead, An Yun, is still keeping up his refined facade, with none of his possessive, sinister, unhinged nature showing.
Lin Chenzhou earnestly takes An Yun's hand, doing his best to save himself:
"Believe me. I may like beautiful people, but I would never steal your wife."
An Yun takes Lin Chenzhou's hand in return, his slightly reddened eyes full of tenderness:
"I know you would never steal someone else's wife, because I'm your wife."
Lin Chenzhou: ?
Lin Chenzhou: What's with this male lead?
An Yun's mother pulls Lin Chenzhou aside and explains that An Yun has suffered a brain injury.
He's convinced that Lin Chenzhou is his boyfriend, a lovesick puppy who's pursued him for years, finally won his heart, and is about to marry him. She asks Lin Chenzhou to help, saying he can name his price.
Lin Chenzhou: Got it. Pretend to get married for money.
Lin Chenzhou: So what if it's with a guy? A die-hard straight man can't be turned gay, right?
At the wedding,
Lin Chenzhou gently takes An Yun's hand: Acting deeply in love is a piece of cake.
In their room,
Lin Chenzhou eagerly unbuttons An Yun's shirt: You have to go all in to show professional dedication.
Later, when they're in a car accident,
Lin Chenzhou instinctively shields An Yun: O_o? This seems to be getting out of hand.
When he opens his eyes again, Lin Chenzhou is shocked to discover
that even worse, the car accident has sent him back seven years.
The possessive, sinister, unhinged CEO hasn't yet been brought back to the An family. He's a cold, world-weary high school student, covered in blood after a car accident...
The boy, An Yun, struggles to his feet on an injured leg and looks up, his dark eyes lifeless. "Get out of the way."
Lin Chenzhou: "This might be hard to believe, but I'm..."
Young An Yun: "I don't care who you are. Either die or get lost."
Lin Chenzhou: ...
Lin Chenzhou: Where's my soft, sweet wife???
