Wen Fuling is warm and cheerful. One day, she happens to take in a handsome man who looks like an immortal banished from heaven and makes him her husband. They live a quiet life for several years. Her husband, Xie Ling, is as cool as water, yet unfailingly thoughtful in everyday matters and good to her. They are a perfect match.
But her husband falls gravely ill and is dying.
She joins the Buhui Sect solely to save him. The sect practices the path of emotionlessness, but she gradually develops feelings. The sect initially refuses to accept her, but changes its mind when it hears her husband's name.
So she becomes a devoted wife who practices resurrection arts by day and returns home to care for her husband at dusk. But in the end, she can't save him. When her husband dies, she grieves for a while. With no longer any reason to save him, she gives up and becomes a carefree slacker in the sect.
Even being a slacker isn't easy. She's always assigned the hardest, most exhausting jobs.
A senior fellow disciple, renowned for his emotionless cultivation, comes out of seclusion and tells everyone in the sect not to bully her.
His name is Xie Fubai.
But Wen Fuling doesn't know him. She's never even seen his face.
In her sleep, she somehow forms a bond with Xie Fubai. When she wakes, she sees a face that looks just like her husband's before her. Thinking she's dreaming, Wen Fuling lies back down.
"Get up." Xie Fubai's cool voice reaches her ears.
It isn't a dream.
Xie Fubai wants her to take responsibility. Once they've formed a bond, they have to get married.
Wen Fuling only wants to be a carefree slacker.
Xie Fubai cultivates the path of emotionlessness, yet develops feelings for her.
When he stands against the Heavenly Dao for her, Wen Fuling sheds tears. How could a heart of flesh and blood feel nothing?
