Sifuna is face-blind. She finds herself inside a comic-book world where the gods have vanished and fallen gods run rampant, as a scapegoat witch destined to be killed off.
She studies magic and makes incense to save people.
But then she catches the villainous fallen god devouring souls and is caught on the spot.
With a hand around her throat, Sifuna thinks: The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Witches and fallen gods are on the same side, so please let me go!
The next moment, she hears the fallen god murmur, "I'm only short a servant."
Sifuna covers her head and unleashes a ridiculously long spell, like the pigtail of an old man, as an attack. "Here's a bird's nest for your hair! Whoever wants to be your servant can do it!"
She has barely escaped the fallen god when she's falsely accused of being a witch and dragged off to be burned at the stake.
In despair, Sifuna silently recites the divine descent spell: Fallen gods are gods too. Please, someone, send a god!
Ignatius has just gotten his bird's-nest hair back to normal when he hears the person who started all this calling for him.
He transforms into a holy high priest and "pretends" to descend as a god to put out the flames, only to discover that the little witch he just met doesn't recognize him.
Sifuna covers up her face blindness and changes the subject.
When they meet again, face-blind Sifuna mistakes someone else for Ignatius.
Ignatius casually pulls a nearby attendant over. "Am I beautiful?"
The attendant trembles. "Yes."
Ignatius presses on. "Between me and the person in there, who's more beautiful?"
The attendant is utterly confused. "They can't compare to even a single strand of your hair."
Ignatius lets out a cold laugh.
Time to call out the impostor!
Until one day, Sifuna catches the holy high priest devouring souls too, and runs away.
Ignatius has gotten neither the incense nor the girl. He drops his disguise completely, spreads the wings of a fallen god, and traps her within them.
It doesn't matter if she doesn't recognize him. He'll make her remember him over and over, until they are branded into each other's hearts and become each other's anchor.
