[Dull, wooden female thief x Delicate, self-conquering peacock]
Yue Chang Jing, the eldest young master of Yunmeng Marsh, has always been noble and refined. But even he can fall victim to a turn of bad luck. After one reckless night, the person who shared his bed disappears without a trace. It was only a fleeting affair, after all. Why would he care?
Yet before long, the woman turns up at his door again. Calling herself Liu Guang, she sneaks into his estate as a maid and pretends she does not know him.
Yue Chang Jing lets her wait on him attentively, but she never gives herself away. At last, he cannot hold back any longer. "Is there anything you want?"
Liu Guang shakes her head. "I don't want anything."
He has seen plenty of people play hard to get. As they spend day after day together, Yue Chang Jing becomes even more certain that she must have ulterior motives. On his birthday, he plans to confront her, but just as he starts to speak, someone knocks him out with a dipper.
When he wakes, she is gone, and so is the Moon Pearl.
That night, everyone in Yunmeng Marsh hears the eldest young master smashing things for hours on end.
Liu Guang, a female thief determined to find her birth parents, botches a job and gets herself tangled up in a romantic mess. Kneeling in front of the sect leader, she insists on leaving the sect.
After a long silence, Qi Si Luan says, "Bring back the Moon Pearl, and I'll let you retire from the jianghu."
The Moon Pearl is Yunmeng Marsh's most treasured possession. Liu Guang has no choice but to disguise herself as a maid and wait for her chance. But the eldest young master is so demanding and difficult, always working against her. She endures it again and again, and finally manages to coax him into letting his guard down.
But as time goes on, the way he looks at her grows more and more peculiar, until one day he stares at her like a vengeful ghost and murmurs, "You really don't remember that night..."
The jianghu really is too small! She flees back to her sect, puts the Moon Pearl on the table, shoulders her bundle, and prepares to make a run for it. Just as she climbs onto the wall, the back of her head goes numb and she falls. Dazed, she spots the Moon Pearl rolling across the ground.
She lunges to grab it, but someone seizes her wrist. She looks up and meets Qi Si Luan's gloomy face. "You think you can leave after returning a worthless pearl?"
Before Liu Guang can make an excuse, a servant reports that someone from Yunmeng Marsh has arrived.
Liu Guang's wrist tightens in his grip. Then Qi Si Luan says icily, "Give him the pearl and tell him to get out."
The words have barely left his mouth when Yue Chang Jing, his head wrapped in white bandages, kicks the door open.
[Bonus Scene]
Liu Guang sets out to find her family, with the assassins of the Black-Robed Tower dogging her every step. Even the person in the palace keeps a close eye on her. Everywhere she goes, people are searching for her, yet every one of them is lying.
Compared to her baffling origins, Liu Guang suddenly turns around and looks at Yue Chang Jing, who has been following her all along and refuses to be shaken off.
"Why do you keep following me?"
Yue Chang Jing folds his arms and looks away.
Liu Guang suddenly understands. "Wait, are you my long-lost brother?"
The eldest young master faints in a fit of rage once again.
[Before You Read]
1. A balanced battle of rivals once again, but the romance is mutual and one-on-one, with both leads having no previous partners.
2. Romance: love growing over time, bickering enemies, rivals who are always at odds.
3. Neither of them understands romance, so the one-night stand at the beginning is purely a misunderstanding.
4. Plenty of romantic rivals, including one-sided, faux-historical relationships.
5. An alternate setting inspired by history, but unrelated to it, borrowing only names.
This is the next one I'll write. I'm working hard to stockpile chapters, so please add it to your collection QAQ
Coming in November.
