This is a world made up of three comics, and Li Chengzuo is a bit player who drifts along the edges of all three.

The first is a school-life BL comic: You're the older brother who harbors improper thoughts about the male lead, a legitimate young master of a wealthy family. In public, you must act generous and composed; in private, lust after your adopted younger brother. When the time is right, play the male lead's devoted simp, then gracefully bow out once his true love arrives. (The real young master, a defeated simp: got it.)
The second is a hot-blooded shonen manga: You're the male lead's childhood friend. Talk to him about the stars and the moon, move from poetry and song to the philosophy of life, then cross the ocean and become the cinnabar mole on the other side of the world. (A dear friend: got it.)
The third is a power-fantasy comic about a proud hero's comeback: You're the bully. Pick on the male lead, bully him mercilessly, then wait for him to grow powerful and serve you a face-slapping defeat. (A vicious throwaway character: got it.)
Li Chengzuo diligently follows the plot, but in the end, the whole story goes off the rails.
