Book Description
The Rainy Pavilion tells a tender story of two lonely souls who meet, part, and reunite amid the bustle of the city.
Gu Yan is thirty and owns an independent bookstore. An orphan with a gentle, quiet nature, he sees the bookstore as his spiritual home and keeps a few stray cats for company. Lin Dan, twenty-four, is a sophomore studying economics at Shencheng University. To ease her family's financial burden, she takes on all kinds of part-time jobs in her spare time, while privately carrying the weight of her parents' expectations and the pressure of reality.
They meet by chance during a bookstore hiring session: Gu Yan is the employer, and Lin Dan is a temporary employee. Their shared loneliness and resilience draw them together, and feelings gradually grow between them. But under pressure from her family, Lin Dan eventually chooses to leave, and their relationship comes to an abrupt end.
Five years later, on an autumn evening, Lin Dan steps into that familiar bookstore again as a sudden rain begins to fall. Through the shop window, their eyes meet, and the words left unsaid and feelings that never faded resurface. This time, they find the courage to speak honestly about the timidity and misunderstandings of the past. Beneath the setting sun and the silhouettes of wild geese, their hearts finally find their true home after the storm.
