A bad-tempered, icy CEO who is only good to her younger sister × a sweet music teacher who is the only one able to soothe her older sister
Shi Chao first met Shi Mu when she was five.
Looking at the baby in their mother's arms, she said disdainfully, "She's so ugly. Throw her out."
Her mother flicked her on the forehead and warned her, "From now on, she's your little sister. You have to take care of her and protect her, understand?"
"But she's so ugly..."
Before she could finish, her mother flicked her again and said, "Say that again and I'll throw you out."
Shi Chao reluctantly accepted this, treating Shi Mu with neither warmth nor hostility.
Children are perceptive. Shi Mu sensed what she was thinking, and every time she called her "Sis," she did so timidly, like a little rabbit afraid of people.
Shi Chao knew that she was only afraid of her. She laughed happily around their mother and mom.
Shi Chao felt a little uncomfortable about that.
On a stormy night, their mother called and asked her to sleep with her little sister. Shi Chao carried her pillow to the door and knocked. When Shi Mu saw who it was, the smile on her face vanished at once.
The thunder was giving her a headache. Shi Chao lowered her head and threatened, "You don't seem happy I'm here. Fine, then sleep by yourself."
Shi Mu tugged at her clothes and whispered that it wasn't true.
Looking at her lowered eyes, Shi Chao felt her heart stir for some reason.
The next day, Shi Chao moved into the school dormitory without telling anyone at home.
As the holidays approached, Shi Mu came to school to see her. A group of senior students surrounded her with questions, leaving her so nervous she didn't know what to do.
Looking at all those people crowded around her, Shi Chao found them utterly irritating. She rushed over, pulled Shi Mu away, and demanded to know why she'd come.
Shi Mu handed her a lunchbox of chicken soup and said timidly, "Mom said you're going through a rebellious phase, so she asked me to come talk some sense into you."
Shi Chao laughed in anger. Snatching the bag from her hand, she raised her voice. "Did you ever think that I stayed away from home because of you?!"
Shi Mu looked up at her in shock. In an instant, her eyes turned red. "If you don't want to see me, Sis, I can stay out of your sight."
Shi Chao suddenly felt all her strength drain away. Seeing her tearful, wounded expression felt like having a huge stone pressing down on her heart.
She gave in, reaching out to wipe the tears from the little rabbit's face. In a gentle voice, she said, "Don't cry. I'll come home with you."
From that day on, Shi Mu had her completely wrapped around her little finger. Shi Chao gave in to her countless times, until the feelings buried in her heart could no longer be restrained and poured out like a flood.
"We're sisters. How can we..."
Shi Chao looked at Shi Mu before her, her face flushed and her eyes hazy. Smiling, she bit down on her bright red lips and kissed her fiercely.
"That's right. We're sisters. Thank goodness we're sisters..."
She was truly grateful that their mother had brought Shi Mu home all those years ago. She was the best gift she'd ever received in her life.
