[Short story of around 100,000 characters. I'll continue writing this once I finish what I'm working on.]
Bai Su was not a proper fox spirit.
He could never learn the art of seduction, so he couldn't absorb human yang energy and take human form. Even as an adult, he still looked like a fox cub.
His older brother told him to go out into the human world and gain some experience. Perhaps he would find an opportunity there.
So Bai Su picked up a little bundle in his mouth and set off on a journey with no particular destination.
But his demonic power was too weak. He couldn't beat anyone, and he was often hungry. At last, one day, he fainted on the street.
In a daze, he heard a voice beside his ear. "Good heavens, how pitiful. Whose puppy is this?"
Bai Su was so angry he wanted to jump up and smack the man's head.
Didn't this clueless human know to take a good look? What dog was as... as he was?
"Now that I look closely, it's adorable. Maybe we can offer it to the general. He loves dogs."
"Look how hungry this puppy is. If it goes with the general, it won't have to worry about food or drink anymore."
What? A meal ticket for life!
Bai Su's eyes sprang open, his tail wagging like a propeller. "Woof, woof, woof!"
That's right, he's an adorable and charming little dog!

Life at the general's manor was even happier than back home. Bai Su spent every day eating, drinking, and having fun, showered with love until he forgot all about returning home.
The general held him as he slept every night, and Bai Su secretly absorbed plenty of yang energy from him.
His brother had been right. The human world really did hold opportunities. After just a few months at the manor, Bai Su could take human form.
In theory, now that he'd accomplished his goal, he should return to Fox Mountain. But he couldn't bear to leave, because he'd fallen for the general.
So Bai Su kept putting off the day he'd leave the manor. He absorbed so much yang energy that he became overnourished, and before he could stop himself, he transformed in front of everyone.
Everyone was stunned. The tea in the general's hand spilled, too.
Bai Su, dressed in a blanket woven by the general so he wouldn't be running around naked: o.O

Bai Su had always thought the general was a noble gentleman, gentle as jade and pure as a bright breeze.
When his identity as a fox spirit was exposed, Bai Su figured there was no going back, so he might as well confess. He kept pestering the general every day, saying he wanted to marry him.
At first, Lou Wenling replied righteously, "I feel only the affection of a father and elder brother for you. You've mistaken my feelings, Susu."
Later...
The curtains hung low around the bed, and a subtle fragrance drifted through the air.
Bai Su trembled uncontrollably as Lou Wenling embraced him from behind and kissed away his tears, whispering, "Your tail has wrapped around me. How adorable."
