A record of an orthodox Daoist cultivator's somewhat unorthodox cultivation. In the early stages, they earn merit in the mortal world through several short stories. Later, they take part in a chaotic secret-realm battle, with multiple sects getting involved. Four young friends save one another and grow together.
"There is too much filth in this world. Only the Way can overcome ten thousand hardships."
"The cycle of Heaven never stops, and all things have a place where they belong. I can't stop fate from rolling forward, so all I can do is use my meager strength, again and again, to leave behind whatever I can."
"Whether they can be taught is fate. Whether they can be saved is fate, too."
Character introductions

Zuo Bailing: A once-in-a-generation master of both talismans and formations at the Wushang Immortal Sect. Kind-hearted but with a tiny health bar. Hand-to-hand combat? Ahem, not a chance.
Su Haomian: Stunningly beautiful and a master of illusions. She has a fiery temper and knows how to insult people.
"You think you can compare yourself to me? What could you possibly compete with? In beauty, I'm breathtaking. In wealth, I have Jiang Wantang. What do you have to compare with me?"
Jiang Wantang: 6
Jiang Buxi: A little old worrywart who's missing a few screws. He's incredibly strong in one-on-one fights, but keeps going further down the road to becoming a loyal puppy.
A note for readers
This isn't a traditional level-up story, nor is it about someone being reborn or transmigrating into a book. It's not a fast-paced, face-slapping wish-fulfillment story.
Theme: "Whether they can be taught is fate. Whether they can be saved is fate, too."
In general, just practice more.
