Huai Qing had just finished her college entrance exams when, by a "stroke of luck," she spent 380 yuan on a busted old key, the kind nobody would even bother picking up if it fell on the ground. She was so mad she wanted to cosplay as a speed bump in the middle of the road. But things got worse. That night, she dreamed she was struck by lightning, whipped, and killed by a sword.
The next day, she found that her bedroom door had turned into an ancient stone door. Remembering the key, she touched it and transmigrated to a bamboo grove. The area beyond the grove was pitch-black, and there was no way out. There, she met someone named Yan Zhi.
Yan Zhi acted strangely toward her. After testing him, she asked, "Have we met before?"
He didn't answer, but his reaction had already given him away.
Later, in the Mirror of Rebirth, she saw the love and hatred, passion and obsession she had shared with Yan Zhi in ancient times.
(In ancient times, the realms were the Human Realm, the Underworld, the Demon Realm, the Devil Realm, the Divine Realm, and the Great Wilderness. Between the Human Realm and the Immortal Realm lay a range of mountains collectively known as Lingshan. Huai Qing grew up on Lingshan.)
Yan Zhi was picked up by Grandma. More precisely, Huai Qing begged Grandma to pick him up.
Yan Zhi had been a bamboo spirit on the verge of taking human form, but Huai Qing sat on him and crushed him. Feeling guilty, she begged Grandma to dig him up and take him to Lingshan. She never expected Yan Zhi to have the fate of a jinx, though fortunately he didn't cause any trouble. Later, as the two grew up together, Huai Qing discovered that he was an extremely obedient little crybaby. But as time went on, he could no longer keep his feelings bottled up...
The two sneaked out of Lingshan and solved several cases in the Human Realm. When Yan Zhi saw Huai Qing interacting with another man, he was consumed by jealousy and could no longer keep up his act.
Only then did Huai Qing realize: How could he be such a good actor?
After ascending to immortality, the two had no choice but to part for several years. Then Huai Qing discovered that there was more to Yan Zhi's fate than met the eye...
