*Fake and real young masters / a touch of jianghu and court intrigue / secret identities
Wen Shuyu was the fake young master. He had occupied the rightful heir's place at the Marquis's Estate for nineteen years, until shortly after the real young master returned and he was unceremoniously sent off to the countryside. On the way, he was ambushed. The bandits mistook him for the real young master of the Ping'an Marquis's Estate and deliberately forced him to take ten days' worth of Ecstasy Powder to humiliate him. At the critical moment, a man in black descended from the sky, wielding a Cloud-Splitting Crescent Blade. In the blink of an eye, corpses lay everywhere.
Thinking he had met a great hero, Wen Shuyu clutched his torn clothes and thanked him profusely. He never expected the man to glare at him as if he wanted to eat him alive, then speak in the voice of a simpleton: "Y-you look just like my wife, who's been missing for years!"
Wen Shuyu: ?!
Wait, was this man an idiot?
The idiot spoke incoherently, but had seemingly endless strength. After carrying Wen Shuyu over his shoulder and tossing him into a cave, he grabbed his wrist and devoured him in a frenzy.
He ate at his lips and kneaded his waist without restraint, mumbling that he was his sweet wife. When it was over, he held Wen Shuyu and sobbed, saying that Wen Shuyu had no idea how he'd managed all the years he was gone.
Wen Shuyu's face burned with embarrassment.
Ten days. For ten whole days, this idiot had nearly done him in.
Wen Shuyu had been pampered at the Marquis's Estate for nineteen years. He simply couldn't bear the hardships of mountain life. He needed hot water to bathe, couldn't stomach coarse rice, and couldn't sleep beneath a moldy quilt.
Though the idiot was a fool, every day he sweated as he heated water for Wen Shuyu, went door to door in town looking for soft rice for him, and even spent a fortune on a silk quilt from a wealthy household.
After being abandoned for so long, Wen Shuyu had found himself feeling cherished again, all thanks to an idiot.
But their happiness didn't last. An imperial decree ordered the real young master to marry the crown prince, who had been simple-minded since childhood. The real young master was so frightened that he tried to hang himself on the spot. Unwilling to let their own son suffer, the Marquis and his wife sent Wen Shuyu a letter and tricked him into returning to the capital.
By then, Wen Shuyu was a month pregnant.
The idiot still had no idea he was going to be a father.
The wedding was fast approaching.
With no one willing to help him, Wen Shuyu accepted his fate, put on the red wedding robe, and climbed into the bridal sedan. On the way, he learned from an old eunuch that the crown prince had been an idiot from birth. A wise immortal had once given them a portrait and said that if they found the person in it, the idiot could become a flawless jade.
Wen Shuyu's hands trembled as he unfolded the portrait. In its candlelight, the person depicted had bright eyes, pearly teeth, and an alluring grace. Who else could it be but him?
In the bridal chamber, the idiot, now the crown prince, lounged on the wedding bed in his red robe, looking lazy and aloof. He watched the good bride who had abandoned him enter the room and gave a mocking laugh.
Seeing that familiar yet unfamiliar face, Wen Shuyu went pale and turned to flee. The crown prince pressed him against the door, stroking his slightly rounded belly as he sighed.
"You're carrying my child. Who are you going to marry, wife?"
#After running away with his child, he ends up marrying the real deal :)
#What a tangled fate!
